1: Do I need an onsite estimate?

Yes if your apartment or house has 2 or more bedrooms' worth of items. An accurate estimate cannot be calculated without a visual survey. The estimate is free.
2: Are estimates binding? Should I go with the lowest one?
A:
Estimates are just that "estimates." You still will be charged for any extra time and materials.
3: Do local and long distance estimates differ?
A: Estimates for local moves are based on time, long distance moves are based on cubic feet and weight.
4: What other charges should I expect?
A: Plan on being charged for boxes, tape, plastic wrap, etc. See packing services for more.

When should I call a moving company?
A: The earlier, the better.It's wise to give your moving company four to six week's notice, espicially for dates at the end of the month.

When is the best time to move?
A:
The first serveral weeks of the month. Schedule the move as early in the day as possible to allow time for any unforseeable delays.

How long does it take to move?
A: This depends on many factors, such as size of your move, distance to the truck, elevators, and most importantly how well prepared you are.

Is it OK to assist movers with the move?
A: Your indirect assistance is fine. The concern moving companies have is possible liability should you be injured while assisting them.

How and when should I pay?
A: Other than deposits, if any, and extra insurance, most movers except credit cards, cashier checks and cash at the end of your move.

Should I tip the movers?
A: Feel free to tip your movers when they do a good job.
Ten to twenty dollars per man is customary.
